***image1***For the 10th year, the Eiswoog lake near Ramsen will be illuminated Saturday. The event, “Eiswoog on fire,” features a fireworks display on the lake, musical entertainment, a fire show, eating, drinking and a torch ride on a special old train called Stumpfwaldbahn, which travels in the upper Eistal valley near Ramsen.
The torch rides, which start at 4 p.m., take passengers on an illuminated route between the train stations at Eiswoog lake and Bockbach valley.
“The hiking trail along the railroad tracks and the Eiswoog train viaduct will be illuminated with fire bowls,” said Karsten Remien from the Stumpfwaldbahn Association.
Next to both train stations, and at the Seehaus Forelle restaurant, warm meals and drinks will be served.
Die Legende, an association promoting the Middle Ages, will present a fire show at 5:30, 7:30 and 9:15 p.m., and serve a hot meal for a medieval atmosphere at the Bockbachtal station. And, the percussion group Samba o leck will perform South American rhythms on the fest grounds near the Eiswoog train station.
The event will be in the upper Eistal valley, on county road L395, between Ramsen and Enkenbach-Alsenborn.
“We are asking visitors to take public transportation to get to the event since parking near Eiswoog is limited,” said Mr. Remien.
Public buses offer rides starting near the Enkenbach-Alsenborn train station.
“This year, shuttle buses transport visitors between Ramsen and Bockbachtal valley from 4 to 7:30 p.m., and then again every half hour starting at 9 p.m.,” said Mr. Remien.
The Stumpfwaldbahn offers rides for tourists from Easter to Oct. 3 on Sundays and German holidays.
