It’s that time of the year again, and the 21st Theater Sustainment Command’s tax centers on Kleber Kaserne and Landstuhl are open to handle 2010 tax returns.
Active-duty Soldiers and Airmen, Reserve Soldiers, retirees, Department of Defense civilians, and family members are all entitled to use the tax centers for free.
Customers must bring a valid photo identification, social security cards, or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number cards for everyone on the tax return, a power of attorney for taxes (if applicable), a W-2 and/or a 1099-MISC, bank account number and routing number for direct deposit of refund and a copy of the previous year’s tax return, if possible.
In the past, the tax centers have saved the KMC approximately $500,000 in preparation fees and refunded about $5 million back to the community with a 99 percent accuracy rate.
“You can have a lot of confidence in it. We have Internal Revenue Service training, and all our tax repairers are supervised by lawyers,” said Mark Christensen, chief of client services at the Kaiserslautern Legal Services Center.
The tax center on Kleber Kaserne opened Monday and is located in Bldg. 3210 across from the shoppette. The center’s business hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, call the center at 483-7688 or 0631-411-7688.
