***image1***More than 120 Airmen from the 32nd Air and Space Operations Center deployed Thursday to the U.S. Central Command Combined Air Operations Center at Al Udeid, Qatar.
According to Capt. Erica Haas, 32nd AOC assistant director of staff, the Airmen are filling command and control positions for all coalition sorties over Iraq, Afghanistan and the Horn of Africa in support of the Global War on Terrorism.
“We’re an extremely diverse organization made up of individuals in more than 50 Air Force Specialty Codes,” said Captain Haas.
“This deployment presents an opportunity for our personnel to execute their mission in support of real world ops,” said Col. Peter Castor, 32nd AOC commander. “Everyone is extremely excited about the opportunity and absolutely ready.”
The AOC is made up of five divisions: strategy, combat plans, combat operations, intelligence, and surveillance and reconnaissance and air mobility division. In addition, AOC members fill positions in several specialty teams such as the Joint Search and Rescue Center, information operations, combat weather and communications support.
This is the second recent deployment for the 32nd AOC. Seventy-eight Airmen deployed to Qatar in 2004 in support of operations Enduring and Iraqi Freedom.
