***image1***Lt. Col. Mark Swiney was recently named the 3rd Air Force Individual Mobilization Augmentee of the Year for 2006. Colonel Swiney is the Chief of current operations within A3, Directorate of Operations.
Though a reservist, Colonel Swiney has performed his current duties for 365 days. He leads a 24/7 current operations division responsible for executing operational command and control of all U.S. Air Forces in Europe operations in the area of responsibility.
Colonel Swiney has played a key role in a number of significant events, including the Lebanon evacuation, Joint Task Force exercise AUSTERE CHALLENGE ‘06 and in USAFE’s planning for the NATO Summit in Riga, Latvia.
