The 405th Army Field Support Brigade welcomed Command Sgt. Maj. Jesse Sharpe Jr. to the brigade during a change of responsibility ceremony April 2 on the parade field at Daenner Kaserne.

During the ceremony, the brigade bid farewell to departing Command Sgt. Maj. Ismael Rodriguez.

“A mission simply cannot be executed without the efforts of our NCOs,” said Col. John Haley, the commander of the 405th AFSB. “They lead by example, enforcing standards and ensuring discipline. Both Command Sergeant Major Rodriguez and Command Sergeant Major Sharpe epitomize these characteristics and live them each and every day.”

Colonel Haley commended Command Sergeant Major Rodriguez for his efforts at the brigade, noting that he “upheld the traditions, customs and history of this unit to the highest standard.”

During an often emotional speech, Command Sergeant Major Rodriguez, a Bronx, N.Y., native, spoke of his love for the Army and its families.

“The teams’ families serve as well,” Command Sergeant Major Rodriguez said, “making silent and selfless sacrifices that at times only those associated with the military truly appreciate. I pray that my span of influence not only served to aid the brigade in mission accomplishment but that we, the leadership, touched at least one life, that we influenced one person to become a better Soldier.”

Command Sergeant Major Sharpe’s previous assignment was the command sergeant major for the 172nd Support Battalion in Schweinfurt.

Command Sergeant Major Rodriguez will be the new command sergeant major for the 16th Sustainment Brigade in Bamberg.
