Hosted by the Bulgarian air force, the joint training exercise gave the 86th AW and 435th CRG a chance to test Agile Combat Employment in the European theater. The exercise was part of the joint training exercises for Thracian Summer 2023, between the 86th Airlift Wing, 435th Air Ground Operations Wing and the Bulgarian air forces. This exercise gave the 86th AES the opportunity to train emergency medical procedures with the Bulgarian air force while going through adverse scenarios. The joint training exercise gave the 435th CRG the opportunity to practice operations with the Bulgarian air force strengthening the NATO allies’ working relationship while accomplishing critical tactical-training requirements.
