After a week-long dual inspection process, the 435th Medical Group recently received a grade of “excellent.”
The inspection, which was carried out by a civilian team from the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care and a military team from the Air Force Inspection Agency, was designed to measure levels of quality care and compliance with all Air Force Instructions and Air Force Surgeon General directives and policies.
“I am very proud of the men and women of the 435th Medical Group,” said Col. Angela Thompson, 435th MDG commander. “This inspection validates that our team is providing quality medical care to our community and excellent support to our military mission.”
***image1***The Health Services Inspection, conducted by the AFIA team, looked at 117 standards to ensure the Medical Group was compliant with Air Force Instructions and directives. After reviewing documents, conducting numerous interviews, and doing facilities inspections, the 435th MDG received a grade of “excellent” for the HSI. The team also recognized three outstanding performers – Capt. Chris Kurinec, Tech. Sgt. Mike Jones, and Staff Sgt. Patricia Wheatley.
“The 435th Medical Group is fulfilling the needs of the beneficiary population in an excellent manner while supporting DOD, USAFE, 435th Air Base Wing, 86th Airlift Wing, and the 38th Combat Support Wing contingency requirements,” said Col. Lynn Johnson, HSI team chief.
The AAAHC civilian inspectors looked at 484 standards to check for compliance with civilian health care industry standards for ambulatory clinics. The AAAHC team reported “no major findings” from their inspection and expects the 435th MDG to receive full accreditation once the results are reviewed by their governing board. The final accreditation results will be received 45 days after the conclusion of the inspection.
Once every three years, every Air Force military treatment facility undergoes a dual inspection as long as they were graded as compliant during their last inspection. The 435th MDG underwent their last dual inspection in May 2004.
