Energy Tip of the Week – September 6, 2024

Do not succumb to the pressure of opening your oven while cooking. Your oven has to work overtime to compensate for the lost heat each time you open the oven door.

Tips:

  • Use the oven timer for proper cooking time or utilize the oven light.
  • If possible, switch off the oven earlier when baking and use the residual heat.
  • Not preheating also saves electricity.
  • Also, bake several dishes at a time to minimize oven usage.
  • Lastly, always defrost food before putting it in the oven. This means that less heat and energy will be needed to cook it.
