Easter markets and displays are scheduled to take place in the coming weeks. The first event will be the annual Easter egg display, sponsored by the Westpfalz Werkstätten in Siegelbach from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. This year’s display theme is “Arts and Culture of the Egg.”
About 20 hobby artists will present traditional and modern arts Easter eggs. Visitors can watch the artists presenting their techniques and also can try creating their own Easter eggs. All objects on display can be bought. All net profits will go to the Westpfalz Werkstätten, which is a sheltered workshop for people with disabilities. The workshop is located in Kaiserslautern-Siegelbach, Sauerwiesen 18.
A spring arts and crafts market will be conducted Saturday and Sunday at the Haus des Bürgers in Ramstein-Miesenbach. The annual creative market will feature more than 25 exhibitors presenting handmade items. Visitors will find floristry, textile and silk works, teddy bears, and products made of glass, metal and wood. Admission is free.
Another Easter market takes place in Speicher, known as the pottery village, southeast of Bitburg. The local advertising agency sponsors this event, which, besides Easter items, also offers a variety of other products regarding family, house, job, food and soul. The vendors’ stands will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and the stores will be open from 1 to 6 p.m. For details, visit www.eifel.de.
Trier holds its annual Easter market March 12 to 14 at the city’s historical Hauptmarkt. The market place will be decorated in spring colors and all kinds of items will be offered, including flowers, jewelry and gold smith works. Easter food specialties will include Easter egg bratwurst, fresh fruit and vegetables, wines of the region, and liquors. Easter markets continue March 18. A colorful spring world and Easter market will be set up March 18 to 21 around the dome in St. Wendel (north of Neunkirchen). Visitors will find selected art and craft items and a rabbit village. A special exhibition will display “A funny rabbit’s life.” A wide range of merchandise will be offered in a medieval craftmanship’s lane. Children can enjoy a petting zoo and participate in games. Another Easter market in the Saarland will be held March 19 to 23 in Saarlouis. This market includes rides and activity booths. Stores will be open from 1 to 6 p.m. March 21. Ramstein-Miesenbach holds its Easter market with vendors March 27. The fountain on Marktplatz will turn into the biggest Easter net of the Pfalz. Life size Easter bunnies will give out about 1,000 Easter eggs to visitors.
