Winter will be history when Kaiserslautern celebrates the beginning of spring with its event “Lautern comes into Blossom” from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. This year the event, sponsored by the Kaiserslautern Advertising Association called “Kaiser in Lautern,” will continue Sunday, when the stores will open from 1 to 6 p.m.

Members of “Kaiser in Lautern,” vendors, restaurant owners and various organizations will present a diversified program to entertain and lure customers. Children can participate in special activities such as jumping on a bouncy castle, getting faces painted, watching a balloon artist and painting streets with colored chalk.

Stores of the advertising association will present who they are, what they do and greet guests with flowers. They will also ask people to take part in a variety of actions and to enjoy special offers.

Customers who want to give their feet a little fresh air after that long time in winter shoes, might want to take a walk across the barefoot path in Stiftsstrasse. The Kaiserslautern rabbit breeding club will offer feeling of a different kind by showing off its nicest looking animals at the corner of Schillerplatz and Schneiderstrasse.

The event will also offer some musical entertainment. The marching band Present Art Collection will go through the streets of the center, and the band Farbtöne will perform on Altenhof.

Various craftsmen will display their skills next to the giant ball fountain in Riesenstrasse.

Wooden toys will be sold at a booth on Stiftsstrasse. Vintage vehicles that will be presented during “Kaiserslautern Classics” in August can already be admired on Schillerplatz.

An event highlight will be a flower pyramid made of 1,000 colored primroses, set up in front of the Tourist Information office, Fruchthallstrasse 14. At the corner of Fackel- and Markstrasse, local kindergarten children will decorate the spring tree.
