Family & MWR Newcomer’s Scavenger Challenge
The USAG Rheinland-Pfalz Family & MWR is hosting a Newcomer’s Scavenger Challenge for the Baumholder Military Community. This exciting challenge is designed to help newcomers explore all Family & MWR programs available in Baumholder. Participants will receive a special passport listing all the programs, and can collect stamps at each facility visited to participate with a chance to win a $150 MWR Gift Card. Stuffed Animal Storytime and Sleepover
The popular annual Stuffed Animal Sleepover starts with children dropping off their stuffed animals Thursday, Jan. 9, at the 5 pm Storytime, after which they will tuck them in for a library sleepover at the Landstuhl Library, Bldg. 3810 on Landstuhl Post. The stuffed animals will be picked up by their “human friends” Friday, Jan. 10, between noon and 4 p.m. Children will get photos of the shenanigans that their stuffed animals got into overnight. Everyone is encouraged to wear their pajamas to the storytime. Children who can’t attend the storytime can still participate by dropping off their stuffies during opening hours (10 am to 6 pm) on Jan. 9. The event is free. Youth Auditions: Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon
Auditions for the KMC Onstage Spring YOUTH Performance Class show, “The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon” Jan. 13 and 14 at 4:30 p.m. at the KMC Onstage Studio, Community Activity Center, Bldg. 3109 on Daenner Kaserne. Auditions open to ages 10 to 18. All children are welcome to audition for this hilarious retelling of all your favorite fairy tales! No cost to audition, but those selected will need to register for the Youth Performance Class (tuition $95/month, financial aid available) No experience necessary, casting multiple roles. Hobby Exploration Fair
Celebrate National Hobby Month on Thursday, Jan. 16 from 3:30 to 6 p.m. at the Baumholder Library, Bldg. 8332 on Smith Barracks. Attendees will meet with subject matter experts from across the Baumholder Community who can introduce them to different hobbies and activities from acting or fishing, to crafting or physical training, and much more. A series of presentations will take place to provide a more in depth introduction to each hobby. Jingle Bowls
The Strikers Bowling Center announces a Jingle Bowls special for all ages Dec. 20 and 21 during regular operating hours. Reserve ahead by calling 0611-143-531-2831 or 531 2831. Bowlers can also just show up during these dates at the Strikers Bowling Center, Bldg. 8105 on Smith Barracks. Discounted bowling rates, $15/hour, 1/2 price shoe rentals, and “Red Pin” bowling all weekend.
SKIES One-Day Soccer Camps
SKIES Unlimited is offering a Fall Indoor Soccer Camp for youth ages 2 to 16 on Saturday, Dec. 21, at the Landstuhl Youth Center Gym, Bldg. 93812 on Landstuhl Post. Open to all ID card holders from all branches of service. All participants must be registered with Army MWR Child and Youth Services. Youth must be registered in advance to participate. Winter Solstice Party
Celebrate all the favorite winter holidays with the Winter Solstice Party Dec. 21 from 4 p.m. to midnight at the Pinsetter’s Pub, Bldg. 8105 on Smith Barracks in Baumholder. This is a free event. Holiday Mulled Wine is the winter drink feature. This is the Pinsetter’s last holiday party before the New Year, and the only holiday party taking place on Smith Barracks. Weekly Yoga Classes-Tuesday & Thursday
Two new yoga classes are now available in the Baumholder community. Every Tuesday, 6:30 -7:45 p.m., enjoy Soft & Slow Yoga, and every Thursday, 6:30-7:45 p.m., Yoga Balance. Landstuhl Library Baby Brillance Storytime
Baby Brilliance Storytimes returns in September and will be held every Thursday of the month starting at 11 a.m. at the Landstuhl Library, Bldg. 3810 on Landstuhl Post. This is a fun storytime for ages birth to 18 months with songs, fingerplays and more. Signups are not required. Storytimes will not take place on Federal Holidays. Strikers Bowling Center Duty Bowl & Two for Tuesday
Duty Bowl for service members in uniform is only $5 per hour and per lane every day at the Strikers Bowling Center, Bldg. 8105 on Smith Barracks in Baumholder. All Soldiers “duty” bowling must be in duty uniform. Two for Tuesday special will be $2 per game and $2 shoe rentals from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. every Tuesday. Red Pin Bowling
Red Pin Bowling happens every Friday from 4 to 10 p.m. at the Strikers Bowling Center, Bldg. 8105 on Smith Barracks in Baumholder. Full Nerd Friday
The time has come for “Revenge of the Nerds” every Friday from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Baumholder Warrior Zone, Bldg. 8218 on Smith Barracks. This is a free event for 18 and older, and registration is not required. There will be a full assortment of table-top, role-playing games, board games, video games. Come one, come all in Cosplay!
