Comprehensive Community Fitness

Encouraging all members of the Army Family — service members, civilians, families, local national employees and retirees — to stay fit is the aim of the commander’s Comprehensive Community Fitness Program. As part of the program subject matter experts from around the command have focused on the five pillars of the program. Following are this month’s tips for overall well-being:

Physical — Get competitive in some physical activity this summer. The annual Commander’s Cup Competition will be held from June 28 to July 3. Teams can register by stopping by the front desk at the Wiesbaden Fitness Center. Registration is free for active duty service members.

Emotional — Going into summer break without a plan increases the chances of your teen using his or her free time to get in trouble. Try some character-building activities such as volunteering. Or contact Baumholder or Wiesbaden’s Child, Youth and School Services for summer activities.

Family — How fit is your family? Have any plans this summer for a family outing? Need some help dealing with deployment-related stress? Remember to talk with your family readiness support assistant about resources available in the garrison.
Social — Don’t forget to celebrate the Army’s birthday June 14. Have a barbecue with friends and neighbors. Or purchase tickets to attend the Army Birthday Ball June 12 in Heidelberg by calling civ (0622) 139-4507.

Spiritual — Want to expand your knowledge of spiritual fitness? The U.S. Army Garrison Wiesbaden Religious Support Operations hosts Muslim prayer and Quran classes every Friday from noon to 12:45 p.m. in the Wiesbaden Army Airfield Chapel. Check with Baumholder’s RSO for spiritual opportunities in the Baumholder area.
