You can make a difference

Has the depressed economy affected you and your family? Are you aware of Arizona’s attempt to crack down on illegal immigration?

There are many issues today that directly impact your lives or the lives of your family members back in the U.S.

If you ever thought your vote didn’t count, you were gravely mistaken. Every vote makes a difference in elections. In 2000, only 527 votes gave the Republicans control of Florida and ultimately the presidential election. In 2006, the Democrats won Virginia and took control of the Senate by 9,329 votes. On Nov. 2, America will vote on 36 percent of U.S. Senate seats, 100 percent of the U.S. House of Representatives seats, and 36 states will elect or re-elect their governors. 

There are so many issues that make a difference in your daily lives, and only you have the power to choose who makes the decisions that can affect millions of American lives. Remember, if you don’t vote you have no right to complain. It is your civic duty to vote.

You can also stop by the Kaiserslautern Military Community Center from 11 a.m. to
1 p.m. daily from Oct. 12 to 18, where we will have federal write-in absentee ballots to fill out. Ballots should be mailed by Oct. 25.
