After its successful premier last fall, the second culinary hike will take place Saturday and Sunday in Rodenbach.
Participants of the biggest culinary hike in the Westpfalz will walk through hilly areas, enjoy scenic views and taste selected wines as well as regional and international food specialties at eight stations.
The 6-kilometer route, which is stroller-friendly, will be available from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
Participants can park their vehicles on two big parking lots in the Industriegebiet Nord (industrial area between Vogelweh and Weilerbach, along state road L367) and start their route here following the signs.
Local butchers and caterers will serve food specialties including wurstsalat with homefries, bratwurst, potato salad, salmon filet made on a Finnish Kota grill, chicken breast, scampis, rumpsteaks and grilled goat cheese. Vintners from the Pfalz and Rheinhessen will offer a variety of wines and sparking wines.
Children can jump on a bouncy castle and get their faces painted.
Musical entertainment will be presented Saturday night at some of the food stations, and Sunday morning, starting 11 a.m., the band Present Art Collection will perform during a Jazz frühschoppen (early morning beer get-together).
Participants have the option to buy a culinary passport which includes a commemorative glass that can be refilled for €1 at each wine station.
Passes can get stamped at every station, and those turning in a complete pass at the end of the walk can get incentives.
Cost for the pass is €5 and it can be obtained at the two information stands.
The hike can get started anywhere along the route.
