The Original Works Program at RIS
This month, the Ramstein Intermediate School PTA will be running the Original Works Program at the school. Through the Original Works Program, each child will have the opportunity to have their own artwork reproduced onto a variety of high quality products, including magnets, mugs, mouse pads, ceramic tiles, T-shirts, note cards and nearly two dozen other products. Each child is eligible to participate in this program. Once the artwork is created, parents and children will have the opportunity to select which product or products that will feature their artwork. The program is designed to encourage creativity and student self-esteem. The resulting products make unique gifts that are practical for any season or occasion and will be back in time for those Christmas presents. For questions regarding the program, e-mail Sanja Abshire at sanja@susjedi.com.

Girl Scouts team up for breast cancer

In an effort to raise awareness of the importance of mammograms in breast cancer detection, the 86th Medical Group teamed up with Ramstein Girl Scouts. The “Healthy Moms and Mentors” program kicked off Oct. 15 at the Breast Cancer Awareness Run, where Girl Scouts distributed handmade bracelets to women over the age of 40. The bracelets serve as a reminder to encourage women to sign up for annual mammograms.
