Family member Rachel Lauderbaugh has announced that she has accepted the challenge from the American Foundation for Children with AIDS to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro and raise funds for AFCA.
The climb is part of AFCA’s Climb Up So Kids Can Grow Up program.
The total team will consist of 12 women, each of whom will commit to raising funds for AFCA. With Ms. Lauderbaugh, there are currently 10 participants from across the U.S.
Funds raised by the participants will help support AFCA’s programs that provide anti-retrovirals and other medicine, medical supplies and food to HIV/AIDS children and their caregivers living in Kenya, Uganda and Zimbabwe.
A key part of the climb is fundraising, and Ms. Lauderbaugh has already received support from friends and colleagues around the world.
“I’m hoping that as more people here know about AFCA and the climb, I’ll get more support – and maybe even other climbers will join our team,” she said.
AFCA is a not-for-profit organization and all contributions are tax deductible.
