The Big Band of the Bundeswehr (German armed forces) will present a charity concert to highlight the 20th anniversary of Ramstein-Miesenbach receiving its town rights. The concert will take place at 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Reichswald-Sporthalle on Schernauer Strasse in Ramstein-Miesenbach.
This will be the third time after successful events in 2005 and 2007 the German forces orchestra will perform in the Reichswald-Sporthalle near Relaschule plus.
This Big Band performs at official state visits, fests of the German chancellor and federal president, balls of sports, opera balls, dance galas and charity events. Musicians play a high quality of music ranging from folk music to Gershwin and from military marches to current rock and pop hits.
From September to April, the Big Band tours through Germany’s concert halls. With its charity concerts, the band was able to obtain the total amount of €15 million.
Proceeds of the Ramstein concert will go to the Parents’ Initiative for Children with Cancer and the Alliance for Families, a civic foundation of the Ramstein-Miesenbach union community.
The event is under the auspices of the Ramstein-Miesenbach Mayor Klaus Layes and Col. Harry Schnell, most senior German officer with NATO Headquarters on Ramstein.
