GAIWC founds new leisure sports interest group

By participating in outdoor and sport activities one can form close cross-cultural friendships because language competence plays a less important role. In January, American Dana Kitchin visited for the first time an interest group of the GAIWC and based on her hobby of running, immediately connected privately with two German club members. The women now train together regularly, and recently took on the Rockie Mountain Donnersberg Run on March 26 successfully.

From this shared passion for running, the idea of an interest group of “leisure sports” was established by the GAIWC. At 6 p.m. today, this group will hold its first meeting with a leisure table tennis tournament. Every second Friday of the month there will be a meeting featuring another sport. There are all manner of different sports from golf to tennis, table tennis, skating, and swimming. A fun competition will be available each time.

If you like to combine sport with fun and want to meet new people, contact or sign up with (American) Rachel Riegel by e-mailing her at rgriegel@aol.com or calling 0152-23-922714 or (Germany) Marlein Auge at kontakt@marlein-auge.de or 0361-350-6901.
