Whether it’s painting ceramic dishes or ordering a frame to fit that poster of yours, the 86th Force Support Squadron Arts and Crafts Center has you covered. Open to all ID cardholders, the Ramstein Arts And Crafts Center offers classes and resources for beginning, intermediate and advanced artists.
“We try to have a little bit of everything to accommodate everyone,” said Eric Krauss, 86th FSS Arts and Crafts Center director. Classes include introduction to drawing, cake decorating, framing and matting, scrapbooking and ceramic pouring. “We really would like to see people new to the arts get involved as well,” Krauss said.
While there are plenty of opportunities to hone your skills or learn new ones, the arts and crafts center would offer even more classes if they had more instructors available. “Sewing, knitting, crocheting, pottery and basket weaving are just a few classes we would be able to offer if we had an instructor,” Krauss said.
Though the center is always looking for new, creative instructors and employees, they are also staffed with employees who love their jobs. George Lebron, 86th FSS Arts and Crafts Center recreation aide framer, said his job at the center is very rewarding.
“I love my job,” said Lebron, former customer turned employee. “Even during my off-time, I spend a lot of time here, and that’s not a bad thing.”
