The traditional Christmas market at the Edith-Stein-Haus in Kaiserslautern will take place for the 21st time Saturday to Dec. 4.
The event is organized by the exhibitors, who are also responsible for the decoration of the premises, which are made available by the St. Martin Parish.
The two floors of the foyer will be filled with about 20 exhibitors. Visitors will be able to enjoy arts and crafts such as patchwork, glass art, floral crafts, jewelry, nativity scenes, pottery, paper crafts, and more. Visitors will also have the opportunity to watch the artists at work.
The well known 1-Welt-Laden (one world store), which sells products from third world countries, and the Protestant Diakoniewerk Zoar, an organization that employs the disabled, will also take part in the Christmas market.
Students from the Albert-Schweitzer-Gymnasium will support the event by selling roasted almonds and chocolate crisps. All proceeds go to the organization’s partner community in Rwanda, Africa.
The cafeteria, operated by the ladies of the parish, will offer homemade cinnamon waffles, pastries, Glühwein (mulled wine), local delicacies and a daily hot lunch dish.
Musicians of all ages from the Emmerich-Smola-Musikschule will present different performances during the afternoons.
Opening hours are from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, and noon to
6 p.m. Mondays to Fridays.
From St.-Martins-Platz, located in the Altstadt in Kaiserslautern, follow Steinstrasse toward the Kaiserbrunnen. After about 650 feet, take the first right into Engelsgasse. The entrance to the Edith-Stein-Haus is only 100 feet away, slightly in the back, but easily recognized by the decoration of Christmas trees and lights.
