435th Services Squadron wins Curtis E. LeMay award

***image1***The 435th Services Squadron won the Air Force General Curtis E. LeMay award recently.
The award is given annually to the best large services squadron in the Air Force.
“This is a tremendous win for our squadron and a credit to the hard work of each member of the unit,” said 435th SVS Commander Col. Melissa Kallett. “Each day, we strive to provide the best quality of life to the KMC community, and this Air Force award recognizes our success in doing that,” she said.
In addition to the LeMay award, two 435th SVS programs, the community centers and the Ramstein Officers’ Club, and Senior Airman Dawn Willie received Best in Air Force honors as well.
“‘Foundation of Our Community’ is the motto of this squadron, and the facilities, programs and events are a testament to this maxim, said Colonel Kallett.
Services offer various programs throughout the KMC to include: library programs, child development centers and youth programs. Youth and teens can also participate in age-specific activities from dances and trips to clubs and instructional classes.
In addition, programs such as clubs, community centers and the Skills Development Center are in place for families, single Airmen and everyone in between.
“Services members worldwide strive to win Air Force recognition for their programs and squadron,” said Colonel Kallett. “I couldn’t be more proud of the troops on my “Team Services.” It’s a win for them and a win for the entire KMC.”
This award, which was created in 1965 to encourage and recognize excellence in Air Force Services’ programs, is named after Gen. Curtis E. LeMay, the father of U.S. Air Forces’s modern strategic air command.
The 435th SVS also produces a monthly magazine, “Spotlights,” filled with activities and events available to the community. Copies are located at post offices, shoppettes, any services’ facilities and other locations throughout the KMC.
