In recognition of the National Drug Take-Back program, there will be an event 10 a.m. to noon April 28 at the Kaiserslautern Military Community Center. Individuals are invited to turn in their unused and expired medications for proper disposal with complete anonymity — no questions asked. Members from the Ramstein Pharmacy will be on scene to facilitate the Drug Take-Back along with several agencies from the KMC to provide information and answer questions.
According to a recent article published by the FDA, proper disposal of prescription medications is important for several reasons. First and foremost, to keep medications out of the hands of children or others who might use the medications with potentially harmful effects. Secondly, there are environmental concerns to rivers, lakes, and possibly water supply.
If you are unable to attend this event, but are interested in disposing of your unused or expired medications, there are drop-off locations at the Ramstein Clinic Pharmacy during normal duty hours: 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday, or in the Outpatient Pharmacy at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Friday, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
