Garrison employee takes top honor

An employee of the U.S. Army Garrison Kaiserslautern was recently named the recipient of the 2011 Installation Management Command Stalwart Award, presented annually to an employee who represents “high standards of performance in promoting IMCOM’s mission and vision,” according to the IMCOM release announcing the award.

Jasmine Byrne, a plans specialist with the U.S. Army Garrison Kaiserslautern’s
Plans, Analysis and Integration Office, received the award from Lt. Gen. Mike Ferriter, IMCOM commanding general, in San Antonio in early December.

“She represents our great workforce, and we’re extremely proud of her,” said Lt. Col. Lars Zetterstrom, the USAG Kaiserslautern commander who was on hand to see Byrne receive the award. Byrne’s receiving the award is “indicative of the overall quality of the garrison workforce,” Zetterstrom said.

According to the award nomination narrative, Byrne spearheaded many garrison projects, led a number of programs to improve services and efficiency, and contributed substantially to several aspects of customer service and satisfaction, including the community town halls and Interactive Customer Evaluation system.

 “I’m one of those people that just doesn’t believe in the word no, or that it can’t be done. I always try to find a way to make it get done,” said Byrne, who also enjoys a challenge that will allow her to prove what she can do, even if it’s not in her area of expertise or at her level.

“If something is broken, and I can help fix it, that’s always been something in me,” she said.
