With only a few days left until Christmas, most of us are probably wrapping things up (both figuratively and literally), hanging the mistletoe, defrosting the turkey and making those special holiday treats.
For those of us tempted to engage in a last ditch shopping frenzy, it is important to keep in mind what really matters this holiday season.
When the flurry of Christmas has ended, your loved ones will cherish the memories made much more than the presents they receive.
Here are a few suggestions to make precious holiday memories that will
last a lifetime and only involve your family’s interest and not the bank’s:
* Bake holiday goodies with loved ones while enjoying a cup of cocoa.
* Set up a holiday movie night with popcorn and yummy snacks.
* Read classic holiday books around the tree.
* Take the time to visit a Christmas market.
* Go for a walk/drive to see the Christmas decorations.
* Plan an evening to take turns reading holiday cards and newsletters from loved ones.
* Attend a special service at your place of worship.
Remember to record your treasured moments and years from now the simple rituals shared with loved ones will be worth every penny saved.
We encourage military families to plan ahead and stay financially fit.
