***image1***Q: When is really too late to apply for an absentee ballot?
A: Most state laws require that a Federal Post Card Application used only to request a ballot (for an already registered voter) be received by election officials at least 30 days before Election Day. Allowing for transit time that means the application should be mailed from Europe not later than 24 September. If you’re using the FPCA to get registered and request a ballot, it may take longer. In any case, why delay? Send your application today! The Federal Write-In Absentee Ballot you’ve heard so much about on AFN may be used only if you make your request in time and still don’t receive your state’s ballot by 15 Oct. Remember, the FPCA is your change-of-address card, too, so if you recently arrived here use it to let your local election officials know.
