Military Spouses: The ‘heart’ of the team

A spouse may have a conversation with a military member that can send their brain into shock because of all of the foreign acronyms–afterwards, pondering what the conversation was even about.
Military spouses may have questions concerning members pay, benefits or legal rights. Some may be new to the community hoping to meet new people.

For spouses who are interested, the Ramstein Family Support Center offers a Heart Link class for Air Force spouses from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Ramstein Officers’ Club.

The program offers an interactive session of Air Force know-how’s.
Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in games, eat lunch and meet other spouses.

In addition, there will be briefings from military offices such as: The military personnel flight, finance and protocol. Spouses will also receive useful information about support agencies and services available to them in the community.

“The program is a fun, no-pressure way to learn more about what our military spouses don’t tell us,” said Jeanena McHargue, a Heart Link graduate.

The class is designed for spouses who have been married for five years or less. However, any Air Force spouse can attend Heart Link if space is available.

“I enjoyed meeting other spouses. I would tell those spouses who have not yet attended, that this is a valuable program with a wealth of information that they need to know,” said Erin Trueblood, another Heart Link graduate.

Seating is limited. Childcare is available, but must be arranged in advance by contacting the Family Support Center.
