***image1***As far as anyone knows, the worship workshop held this past weekend was the first of its kind in the KMC.
The Effective Tools to Praise and Worship was a one-and-a-half-day workshop held Oct. 29 and Saturday at Ramstein’s Northside Chapel. About 40 people throughout the KMC, Heidelberg and Baumholder attended the event, sponsored by Audience of One, which is the Daenner Chapel’s Praise and Worship Band.
“The purpose of this workshop is to equip different musicians, singers, worship leaders, pastors and directors in different church settings or organizations to be able to lead people in worshipping God,” said Peg Novak, the workshop director and Daenner Chapel’s worship leader. “The workshop talked about practical things that need to occur to help the team facilitate congregations and audiences into worship.”
The workshop was divided into seven sessions: Worship: What it is and isn’t; Worship Team Structure; The Call as Worship Leader; Effective Rehearsals; Worship Flow; Band Dynamics and Vocal Dynamics.
“Then, we spilt into a musician and vocal workshop where we actually went through some different exercises and demonstrations, and had a lot of fun,” said Ms. Novak.
The 39th Transportation Battalion’s Headquarters, Headquarters Detachment commander, Capt. Brian L. Smith, said that this worship workshop broke new ground.
“We are in a time of transition in the church,” said Captain Smith, the Audience of One’s lead guitarist and a workshop instructor. “The way we worship is changing, so what we wanted to do was to give people an opportunity to see how to worship more effectively with our changing generation.”
Following the workshop, about 70 people were treated to a two-hour worship concert by Audience of One with special guest, the Vogelweh Gospel Praise and Worship Team.
“I thought it was really neat that they brought in singers from various KMC chapels performing in the concert,” said Master Sgt. Jon R. Hanson, 435th Air Base Wing’s Public Affairs’ superintendent. “It was nice to see such talent within the KMC worshipping God.”
Plans are in the works for another KMC worship workshop in the spring, according to Ms. Novak, who is an experienced worship evangelist and has ministered to several U.S. churches.
