Ramstein 199, Heidelberg 95.5
The Ramstein wrestling team dominated a nine-team takedown tournament scoring 199 points Saturday. Heidelberg placed second with 95.5 points and Würzburg was third with 91.5 points. Out of 14 weight classes, Ramstein had nine wrestlers make it into the championship finals. Placing first for the Royals were Trey Fortunato, Noah Sheppard, Coty Reinhart, Cole Maxey and James Horst.
Boy’s Basketball
Kaiserslautern 63, Ramstein 44
The Kaiserslautern Raiders scored 18 straight points and raced to a 63-44, home win over the Ramstein Royals Saturday. Ramstein continually made attempts to get back in the game, pulling within 10 points three different times. The Raiders’ junior guard Quentin Strauder and senior forward Julian Smalls both scored 19 points. Ramstein’s leading scorer was junior guard Allen Weaver with 14 points.
Girl’s Basketball
Kaiserslautern 40, Ramstein 38
The Kaiserslautern varsity girl’s basketball team outlasted Ramstein 40-38 at Kaiserslautern American High School Saturday. Kaiserslautern was led by senior guard Lyndsey Hyter with 19 points. Ramstein was led by senior guard Krissy Grosselin with 16 points and junior guard Corine Gauture with 11 points. All proceeds from the game were donated to the Red Cross for Tsunami relief victims.
