Tournament of Champions starts tonight

The Tournament of Champions base-level basketball tournament starts tonight in Stuttgart.

Teams from Ramstein, Heidelberg, Wiesbaden, Ansbach, Stuttgart, Bamberg, Kitzingen will compete today, Saturday and Sunday with Stuttgart getting a bye in the first round.

The action starts tonight with Heidelberg vs. Bamberg, Ansbach vs. Wiesbaden and Ramstein vs. Kitzingen.

Ramstein players are confident after their win at Hanau Feb. 5.
“I think we are going to win it,” said Robert Batiste, Ramstein point guard. “Anything less is unacceptable.”

Ramstein won the Martin Luther King Jr. tournament in Heidelberg Jan. 17 and is 2-1 since then.

“If we go in with a good mind frame and take it one game at a time, hopefully we can come out with a win,” said center Austin Layton.

The women’s tournament also starts tonight in Stuttgart with Ramstein playing Kitzingen and Stuttgart playing Wiesbaden.
