LRMC projects done

The Landstuhl Regional Medical Center Facilities Management Branch recently completed construction on two projects, including an eye clinic and conference room at the hospital.

A $1.4-million addition and renovation to the eye clinic, opened April 29, increasing the clinic’s space by 60 percent, said Michael Arseneau, Facilities Management Branch chief.

“Space had been a real issue,” said Mr. Arseneau. “If you provide more space, the doctors really can increase the service to the community.”

The project consisted of two phases. The eye testing portion of the clinic received a 5,000 square-foot, air-conditioned addition with a basement to house the technical equipment. And the clinic’s surgical ward was completely gutted and remodeled, receiving new flooring, doors, ceiling and furniture.
“We took it down to the bare block,” said Mr. Arseneau.

The second project, completed April 29, was the Kirchberg Room – a $47,000 upgraded room adjacent to the dining facility whereby lunchtime meetings are held.

“The room can be used to host VIPs, but that’s not its primary use,” said Mr. Arseneau. “It’s going to be used for training and classes. It also would be great for nurses and doctors who need to work during lunch.”
