Ramstein 1, Wuerzburg 0
The Ramstein Royals remained tied for second place in Division One with a thrilling victory Saturday at Wuerzburg. After a scoreless first half, Chris Maxey scored the lone goal with about 10 minutes to play. The Royals defense held Wuerzburg in check after that for the victory. The wind and rain didn’t help the players any, but Matt Luthman played a great game in goal for Ramstein, making several key saves.
Heidelberg 5, K-Town 0
The Kaiserslautern Raiders got shut-out in a dominating performance by Heiedelberg Saturday. Matthew Orlowski scored twice for Heidelberg in the game.
Girls’ soccer
Ramstein 3, Wuerzburg 0
The Lady Royals recorded their fifth shut-out of the season in a 3-0 victory at Wuerzburg Saturday. Ramstein got a huge game in goal by Dallas Norman and Lauren Williams netted two goals in the victory.
K-Town 2, Heidelberg 1
Paris Cervantes scored on a penalty kick in the final minute to help the Lady Raiders edge the Lady Generals Saturday.
After going scoreless in the first-half Kaiserslautern didn’t allow Heidelberg to get a shot on goal and scored two for themselves in the second half. Liana Knight scored the first goal for K-Town.
The win marked the first time in 15 years that the Lady Raiders defeated the Lady Generals in soccer.
Track and field
The Ramstein boys’ won their track meet Saturday. The following athletes finished first in their events: Marquiston Showers (triple, long and high jumps), Ben Eller (800 meter run), James Hamlett (400 meter run), Parker Cowles (1,500 meter run) and Danny Edwards (3,000 meter run).
The Lady Royals also won their Saturday track meet. First place finishers were: Krissy Grosselin (800 meter and long jump), Jennifer Nielsen (triple jump), Ladashia McIntosh (100 meter hurdles) and Lorraine Tucker (3,000 meter run).
The Kaiserslautern boy’s track team won its track meet Saturday. First place finisher were: Jamal Anene (800 and 1,500 meter runs), Gregory Thompson (300 meter hurdles and triple jump), Brandon Berry (400 meter run) and Steven Burnett (3,000 meter run).
The Lady Raiders also won their track meet Saturday. The following athlete took first place: Lynndsey Hyter (300 meter hurdles, long jump and triple jump) and Dekia Moore (shot put).
