The 435th Mission Support Squadron’s role will be changing on March 31 with a new initiative. Personnel Services Delivery Transformation, or PSD, will levy technology to place the capability for conducting routine personnel transactions into Airmen’s hands via Web-based services and contact centers.
PSD is an Air Force program designed to improve accuracy by enabling Airmen to interact with the Contact Center at Air Force Personnel Center headquarters where decision makers and approval authorities reside. It expands capability to a 24/7 operation where Airmen can transact business from any location with Web access, a phone or a personnel office. More than 20 briefings are scheduled to explain this process to Airmen in the month of March.
The premise of PSD is automation of personnel transactions, similar to those commonly used for banking, paying bills and buying products. The automated areas include: retraining and classification, retirements, accessions, corrections of military records, duty history and duty status requests. Airmen decide when and where these transactions are done. No more waiting in long lines at the Military Personnel Flight – Airmen control the schedule, reducing the need to take valuable time out of a workday.
PSD is accessed through Air Force Portal’s link to Virtual MPF. It’s secure, open 24/7 and follows Airmen on deployment. If Airmen need assistance, the Contact Center is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week at 800-616-3775. The MPF personnel and commander support staffs are still available to help with the transition during the next few months
After the complete conversion to PSD by 2007, more than 85 percent of personnel transactions will be conducted on-line. PSD will enable Airmen to focus on the mission and less on the paperwork.
