Bikers and hikers enjoy the car-free adventure day, “Biking Fun in Sickingen County,” which will take place this year on Sunday.
Sunday, Kaiserslautern-Süd, Landstuhl and Wald-fischbach-Burgalben communites will sponsor the car-free event “Radelspass im Sickinger Land,” Biking Fun in Sickingen County.
County road L363 between Nanstein Castle in Landstuhl and Waldfischbach-Burgalben will be closed to motorized traffic from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Bicyclists, walkers, hikers and inline-skaters can enjoy the 19.5 km car-free route and the entertaining programs provided by the villages.
Mayor Lothar Weber will officially open at 10 a.m. in Steinalben with live brass music by the Moosalbtaler Blasmusik band. The Waldfischbach-Burgalben Tourist office will provide useful information about the region and the children can participate in numerous games. Local clubs will be there to serve homemade dumplings, wurst salad, hamburgers, crepes and cakes.
Participants can start their trip wherever they want to along the route. They can begin in the very north, which is Landstuhl, where they get free admission to Nanstein Castle.
In Bann, they can enjoy a biker’s breakfast and pick up leisure tips for the Landstuhl Union Community. Also available will be an electric bike for test drives.
The next village, Queiders-bach, will serve barbecue specialties, homemade dumplings and dampfnudeln, sweet bread, with vanilla or wine sauce.
In Linden, which is 3 km further south, there will be live music near the community hall. The Palatinate Forest Tourist Information counter will provide tips on activities and locations in the area. Food specialties include Italian dishes, grilled meats, crepes and champagne.
In Horbach, event participants can join historical tours with guides in costumes and taste curled potatoes, white cheese and a biker’s punch.
Waldfischbach-Burgalben on the south end of the car-free route will offer live music and children’s activities with a magician and a ballon artist. Hungry bikers and hikers can have currywurst with French fries or fresh salads.
