Issue: There is a problem where I live of people not following the housing rules pertaining to cleaning up after their pets and dumping their trash in the dumpsters assigned to their building.
To help with the issue of pet owners not cleaning up after their pets, signs were made up by the building leader and posted where all could see. This has not helped with this issue at this time because it could be someone from another building or could even be someone who chooses to ignore what the building leader says.
Either way this is a violation of the housing rules. With the dumpster issue people are driving up in their cars and dumping their trash in the dumpster assigned to the building I live in. Some of these people are obviously from off base from the large amount of trash they dispose of.
Response: I share your concerns about the disregard for rules and regulations for recycling, trash disposal and the responsibilities of pet owners. The cleanliness and appearance of our communities is one of my highest priorities. All members receive brief-ings, handouts, and trash and recycling disposal schedules when they occupy family housing.
You will also find articles on responsibilities and problem issues such as unauthorized dumping are placed periodically in the “KA” and in the quarterly housing newsletter “Keeping Members Connected.” Furthermore, I have directed our housing inspectors to step-up oversight of KMC housing areas.
When you witness improper dumping or violations of pet, noise or other housing resident responsibilities, I ask that you remind the offender of the right thing to do or report the individual to your building leader. If you suspect the member is coming from off base, take down the vehicle license number and report it to the Law Enforcement Desk. Individuals from off base found dumping trash illegally will be punished. Together we can ensure the KMC is a place we can all be proud to call home!
