Park in Freisen sponsors medieval market

The Nature Wild Park Freisen will hold its first spring medieval market Saturday and Sunday.

“We are offering this spring medieval market for the first time, it will be smaller than our traditional summer market in August,” said Matthias Broszeit from the Nature Wild Park Freisen. “Participants will take our visitors about 1,000 years back in time and present all eras of the Middle Ages.”

There will be a camp setup with about 100 tents. Seventeen groups will show off the medieval life. More than 40 vendors and craftsmen will present their products and visitors have the opportunity to watch how things were made in former times. Jewelry made of different materials, baskets, weapons, leather goods, clothes, soaps, liquors, vinegars, marmalades, mustards and sweets will be for sale.

Knights will present show fights, musicians will play on medieval instruments, and jugglers will perform and play tricks on the audience.

Visitors get to taste fried potatoes with wurst and mushrooms, flat bread with meat and cheese, steaks, soup, apple rings, waffles and crepes. Drinking specialties include mead, coffee specialties, lemonades and teas.

The spring medieval market will be open from noon until 10 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Admission fee for the medieval market is €6 for ages 14 and up. Visitors in medieval costumes pay €3. The weekend ticket for both days is €10, and €5 if in medieval costume.

The tickets do not grant access to the nature wild park.
