***image1***Ramstein teens have a new home-away-from-home. Ramstein’s new teen center, The Edge, opens with a grand opening weekend blowout Jan. 30 to Feb. 1 with 40 continuous hours of planned events including: dances, scary movies, tournaments, basketball, scavenger hunts and more.
“This is an all-area teen event, so invite your friends for the endless activities,” said Chett Kline, Ramstein Teen Center director.
The Edge is located in Connections, Bldg. 411, next to the Ramstein Community Center.
Middle school students can enjoy some of the grand-opening activities as well; a middle-school dance is scheduled for 6 p.m. Jan. 31 and middle school age kids can also participate in other weekend events, such as the Mega Jeopardy and Keystone Breakfast.
All grand opening activities begin 3 p.m. Jan. 30, followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony slated for 4 p.m. Participants pay a $15 fee at the door, which allows them entry into all weekend events.
Other than the lock-ins from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. each night, teens can come and go as they wish.
The Edge in-cludes a multipurpose area and a large room with a DJ booth, dance floor, pool table, snack bar, an attached kitchen for large events and plenty of room for sitting in large leather chairs, talking, reading, watching a large-screen television or just listening to music.
In addition, the new teen center is home to a technology lab; “10 computers with a high-speed internet connection are available for work or play,” explained Mr. Kline. An Xbox and Play Station area offers teens another outlet for stress relief and friendly competition. The teen center will be used for events ranging from club meeting spots to formal dances.
Parents and family members are encouraged to tour The Edge at any time to check out this facility. Teen center hours are 3:30 to 8 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays; 3:30 to 11 p.m. Fridays; and 3 to 10 p.m., Saturday.
With the new teen center, expect more teen programs and improvements on already successful teen programs. Visit the Ramstein, Vogelweh or Sembach teen centers for more information on all the 435th Services Squadron teen activities in the KMC.
