Events

Guided tours of the Abbey Church in Otterberg, in German, will be offered the first Sunday of each month. Interested participants will meet at 2:30 p.m. at the main entrance of the church. The one-hour long tour costs €3.

The old smithy in Otterberg, Kirchstrasse, will be open to the public at 4 p.m. every first Saturday of the month. Admission is free.

The museum in Otterberg, which is located in the tourist information office, Hauptstrasse 54, is open during 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mondays to Fridays, and 3 to 5 p.m. Sundays. Admission is free.

The Rheinland Pfalz International Choir has begun a drive to bring15 new singers into the choir, both men and women, by the end of September. The choir will perform the Brahms Requiem Nov. 26 at the Fruchthalle, a Choralforum Concert Dec. 3 in the Marienkirche, and the USAFE Band Christmas Concert Dec. 8 in the Fruchthalle.  Singers who are interested in joining the choir should examine its website, www.sing-rpic.de/about choir-en-html.

KMC Onstage

“GREATER TUNA”: Join KMC Onstage for a riotous good time in this unique comedy production that is fun for the entire family! Two actors play 22 roles between them. GHOST STORY THEATER: On Nov. 3 & 4, KMC Onstage invites you to join us as actors tell ghost stories around the campfire.  This is an event for the whole family; however, younger children may be frightened by the nature of the event. Tickets are $8, no advanced purchase necessary. This show will be held at the Kaiserslautern Community Activity Center, Bldg. 3109 on Daenner Kaserne. Seussical: If you love Dr. Seuss, you’ll love this fantastical family musical that is based on his books, including favorites like “Horton Hears a Who!”, “Horton Hatches the Egg,” and “Miss Gertrude McFuzz.” Evening performance dates are Dec. 8, 9, 15, 16 & Jan. 5, 6,12,13 at 7 p.m. Sundays matinees offered Dec.10 & 17 & Jan 7 & 14 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $10-15 for adults and $7-12 for children and seniors, depending on seat selection. Armstrong’s Club Events

Noche De Rumba at Armstrong’s Club: On Oct. 7, In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, bring your congas, maracas, guiro or timbales to play and dance the night away! There will be a live DJ spinning Latin music. Join in on the fun and make your own music! Don’t have any instruments? Feel free to move to the rhythym on the dance floor from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Rocktoberfest at Armstrong’s Club: From 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. Oct. 14, wear pink, enjoy a live rock band and rock out in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Liquid Hot Magma is a local band with a set list that includes Black Sabbath, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kings of Leon, The White Stripes, Bon Jovi and more!

Dia De Los Muertos: On Nov. 4, from 9 p.m.- to 2 a.m., celebrate Dia De Los Muertos at Armstrong’s Club! Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Costumes encouraged.  There will be a $50 cash prize for best face paint. No cover charge. Open to ID cardholders and their guests, ages 18 and older.

Thanksgiving Brunch: Celebrate Thanksgiving with family and friends at Armstrong’s Club. An unforgettable feast will be held on Nov. 23, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Enjoy traditional roast turkey, seafood, salads, side dishes and desserts, and let someone else do the cooking. Open seating; please make reservations for groups of 6 or more. Cost is $21.95 for adults, $12.95 for children ages 5 to 16 and free for children ages 4 and under.

Ugly Sweater Party: On Dec. 23, from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m., celebrate the holidays at Armstrong’s Club in your ugliest sweater for a chance to win some cash. A $150 cash prize will be awarded to the most spectacular sweater. Dance the night away to a live DJ mixing the best music of the holidays with popular hits.  Enjoy holiday drink specials, with other food and beverages available for purchase. No cover charge. Open to ID cardholders and their guests, ages 18 and older.

A Taste of Germany: 5 p.m. every Monday at Castello’s Snack Bar inside Armstrong’s Club. Indulge in traditional and delicious German meals for $5 per plate. The meals vary each week; menus are available at www.kaiserslautern.armymwr.com.

Women and Wine: 6 to 10 p.m. the first and third Monday of every month. This get together allows women to make friends and form a social network in a fun environment. Food and beverages available for purchase.

Small Tab Tuesdays: 5 to 10 p.m. every Tuesday. Play a game of pool or pick your favorite jam on the jukebox while enjoying specials.

Trivia Wednesdays: 7 to 10 p.m. every Wednesday.

Karaoke Fridays: 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. every Friday. Show off your singing skills and  socialize in a fun environment.

Latin Saturdays: 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. every first and third Saturday of the month.

Kazabra Club Events

Texas Hold’em and Game Night: 8 p.m. to midnight every Friday. Buy-in is $25. Register and buy in by 7 p.m. Other games available for play include dominoes, cornhole and table pong.

Country Night: 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. Saturdays. There is a $5 cover charge.

Country and Western Dance Classes: 7:30 p.m. the first Saturday of every month. No cover charge.

Sunday Bingo: 3 p.m. every Sunday. Doors open at 1 p.m. Bingo packs start at $30. Prizes will be based upon participation. Play the progressive game for a chance to win up to $5,000.

Support Groups

Single Parent Support Group meets from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. the first and third Thursday of every month. Join Family Advocacy Program for this educational class to examine services and tools that will aid in successful parenting. Feel free to bring a lunch. Meetings

Ramstein Toastmasters will meet every first, second and third Tuesday of the month from noon to 1 p.m. at the Ramstein South Chapel, Bldg. 2403. Individuals who want to develop their public speaking skills, are welcome to visit the meetings free of charge. Participants can prepare for board interviews, promotional ceremoies  or leadership roles. Public speaking skills or aspirations can be  advanced and enhanced. Baumholder Events

Children’s Halloween Carnival: On October 31, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Baumholder Family and MWR presents a Children’s Halloween Carnival in conjunction with Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers. Enjoy 13 booths with spooky activities for only $0.25 per ticket, or 10 tickets for $2. Feast on nachos, cotton candy, popcorn, and witches brew, or try your luck at winning a sweet treat in our cakewalk.  Compete in our pre-carved pumpkin contest, with divisions for children 5-11 and 12-18.  Be crowned the winner of the scariest, prettiest, or most creative costume. A Haunted Evening at Burg Frankenstein: On Oct. 21 form 3:30 p.m. to 12 a.m., Outdoor Recreation invites all who dare to join us for a haunted evening at Frankenstein’s Castle. There are multiple characters that will touch you, grab you, scare you, and chase you. Between being thrown in a casket and chased by a mummy, enjoy the spooky stage shows. The scary factor of this event is not suitable for young children. $65 per person includes transportation and admission to the castle. The Sesame Street USO Experience: On Oct. 4 at 5 p.m., the USO is bringing your favorite characters to Baumholder. Elmo, Cookie Monster, Grover and Rosita are here to sing and dance and have fun with the audience. It’s just another sunny day on Sesame Street, until they learn some big news from their friend, Katie: her dad, who is in the military, has been transferred to another base, and their family will be moving away. This is hard news for Katie, who has grown very attached to her Sesame Street friends, and does not want to leave them. But over the course of the show, Elmo, Cookie Monster, Grover and Rosita help her to g radually come to see that they will remain friends despite the distance, that change is not necessarily a bad thing, and that she will make new friends. Katie grows more and more optimistic, until her naturally positive nature prevails and she feels confident in her ability to adapt, to make new friends, and to stay true to who she is.
