Ramstein, Sembach and Vogelweh Youth Programs sponsor the 8th Annual Base Level Youth and Family Talent Contest at 2 p.m. March 13 at the Ramstein Community Center.
Youth programs coordinate the talent showcase annually. Last year’s participants included talent ranging from singers and musicians to a gymnast and a rap group. “This is a great opportunity for youth in the KMC to show off their hidden talents and have a lot of fun,” said Danielle Flahive, Ramstein Youth Programs assistant director.
Anyone wanting to participate should register at Ramstein, Sembach or Vogelweh Youth Programs no later than Feb. 13. Contest participants who sign up early can begin rehearsing at the Ramstein Community Center. They must call 480-6600 to sign up for rehearsal slots.
This competition is open to all U.S. military ID card holders. Entrants may participate in one of the three categories in two different age divisions. The youth division is for youth 6 to 18, and the family division offers the chance for children, 3 and older, to compete with at least one adult.
Categories for competition include: vocal, instrumental and performing arts. The vocal category will name winners for male, female and group. Three titles in the instrumental category will be awarded for solo, combo and group. And for the dancers and variety acts, the performing arts category will name winners for musical variety, dance and specialty. “A contestant may enter a maximum of two categories of competition and not more than one category per division,” said Jennifer Rose, Sembach Youth Programs director.
Awards include first and second-place winners in every category and Best in Show for youth 6 to 11 and 12 to 18. The first and second-place winners also advance to the U.S. Air Forces in Europe Level Talent Show held in the spring.
