Dog Jog: The next Family and MWR Sports & Fitness fun run is all about the dogs of our military community, and the humans who love them. On Aug. 25, bring your furry family member to the Rhine Ordnance Barracks Special Event Center. Registration is open from 8 to 9 a.m., and the run will begin at 9:30 a.m. Dogs must be on a leash and friendly. Registration is $7 for adults, free for children and fur children. The first 100 registrants receive a free t-shirt. Prizes will be awarded for the top finishers in three categories of dog (small, medium, and large) and will receive a dog appropriate prize. Auditions for Sweeney Todd: Every season, around Halloween, KMC Onstage produces a horror show, for lovers of all that is goth and gory. For the 2018-2019 season, we’ve chosen the Victorian tale of Sweeney Todd, the Demon Barber of Fleet Street. This is a revenge tale with an undercurrent of dark romance, as the title character goes on a killing spree to avenge a love he thought he’d lost. 9/11 Commemorative Run: On Sep. 7 at 9 a.m., join Baumholder Sports and Fitness to commemorate the tragic events of 9/11 and honor the lives lost by uniting as a community for a 5k walk/run. Zombie 5k Fun Run: Run for your lives. Zombies have infested Smith Barracks and at 9 a.m. on Oct. 26, they’re coming for you on the Baumholder Sports and Fitness 5k fun run course. Come in your Halloween costume or dress as a zombie so that they think you’re one of them. Registration opens at 8 a.m. the day of the race. Race begins and ends at Hall of Champions Fitness Center. Grapes and Graffiti at Tavern on the Rock: Join us for an unforgettable evening of friends, wine, beer, and painting, hosted by the Arts and Crafts program at Tavern on the Rock. This adult only gathering is open to ID cardholder age 18 and above. $35 per person covers all supplies for painting.
