Ramstein village held its second annual German-American Friendship Festival in Ramstein-Miesenbach, Aug. 10 to 12, celebrating the long-standing alliance between U.S. forces, local nationals, and their families.
Ralf Hechler, Ramstein-Miesenbach mayor, welcomed Col. Joseph H. Wenckus, 86th Airlift Wing vice commander and attendees to the festival.
“Our partnership with the local community makes Ramstein Air Base a special place to live and work,” said Wenckus. “We take pride in knowing our friendship will flourish for years to come.”
The festival included 19 booths sponsored by local businesses and clubs with carnival-like food favorites and beverages.
The U.S. Air Forces in Europe – Air Forces Africa band formation Touch ‘n Go played a live performance during the festival.
Local German bands Carpe Diem and Impact performed live throughout the weekend.
Younger visitors were entertained with face painting and balloon twisting, along with Ramstein’s city mascot, who was there posing for photos.
