For the 10th anniversary the culinary hike in Rodenbach will start 11 a.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. Sunday from Rodenbach’s Village Square. The biggest culinary hike in the Westpfalz will lead walkers on mostly paved trails to eight stations, where they can taste culinary specialties and wines.
“We didn’t hesitate to again organize this unique culinary experience,” said Christoph Molter from the organizing event team. “It’s a perfect family outing since the nearly four-mile loop is paved, making it great for strollers.”
Regional butchers and caterers will offer their specialties. Hikers will have the choice of salmon filet made on a Finnish Kota grill with a honey mustard dip, wild game bratwurst, barbecue specialties, flammkuchen and other specialties.
Vintners from nearby wine-growing regions will serve a variety of wines and prosecco.
Hikers have the option to buy a wine pass for €8 at the two information stands. The wine pass is the ticket to the event.
“Visitors with a wine pass will be able to taste wines at a reduced price of €2 at each wine station. The wine pass can be filled out to enter a lottery to win a mountain bike,” said Molter.
Visitors who do not drink alcohol, do not need to buy the wine pass.
Children can jump on a bouncy castle and get their faces painted at station number eight in the children’s paradise.
Participants can park their vehicles around the village square and at the pool ‘Warmfreibad.’
Passengers can board city busses on bus route 101 at the Kaiserslautern Rathaus (city hall) or on bus route 140 and 141 at the Hautpbahnhof (main train station) to be driven to the center of Rodenbach. Busses will drive every hour. For details, visit www.swk.de (route 101) or www.vrn.de.
The hike can be started anywhere along the route.
