The Westpfalz Police Headquarters sponsors a spring fest, “Symphony of Tulips,” from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Kaiserslautern Garden Fair.

Music takes the center stage of the event. A small ensemble of the Rheinland-Pfalz Orchestra accompanies the worship service being conducted at 11 a.m. in the willow church, and the Orchestra of the Munich Federal Police starts entertaining the visitors at noon.

Special activities include guided tours of the Biblical Garden at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. The police puppet theater has performances scheduled for 11:30 a.m. and 1p.m.

Artwork by police officers is presented in the arts exhibition.

Sports activities are offered such as inline skating in the skating rink and ball games on the soccer and beach volleyball fields.

“Police from different countries in their traditional uniforms will support the spring fest,” said Sandra Laux, garden fair spokesperson. “U.S. military police, Dutch military police, British military police as well as the French Gendarmerie will show off some of their equipment and vehicles.”

The 569th U.S. Forces Police Squadron will take part in the fest, presenting a police vehicle, a K-9 vehicle and an All-Terrain Vehicle. They will also display some of their equipment.

A police dog demonstration with German Polizei starts at 2 p.m.
The International Police Association has an information desk and tries to contact international visitors.

A new display will also open its doors. “Above the Clouds” shows model planes and other miniature objects.

“The event takes place in all weather, since all activities can be moved to the halls,” said Police President Wolfgang Erfurt. “In cooperation with the garden fair, this event has been declared a family day, meaning the admission fee is only half the price.”
Visitors can enjoy all the other highlights the garden fair offers, such as the blooming tulips, the “Music and School” flower show, the dinosaur park, the miniature golf court, the playgrounds and more.
