Venice is the original pedestrian zone and is filled with countless shops, restaurants, museums and other attractions. With no tour guide or set schedule to follow, you will be able to explore this living museum however you see fit. Visit the glass museums on Murano, ride a water taxi or gondola in the Grand Canal, or shop on both sides of the Rialto Bridge. Regardless of what you plan for your day, make sure to visit Saint Mark’s Square, and remember to plan time into your schedule for when you eventually get lost (and you will!) in this beautiful maze of winding streets and canals. But don’t worry about getting lost, if you download a free e-travelguide from Army Libraries before you get to Venice, you will be able to easily find yourself again.

Prague Express

Stroll across Charles Bridge, visit Prague Castle, return to the Soviet era at the KGB Museum or inside a nuclear bunker, admire the Old Town Square and astronomical clock, and sample Bohemian craft beers in a brew pub. Ludwigsburg Pumpkin Festival

The world’s largest pumpkin exhibition at Blühendes Barock (Baroque in Bloom) has been delighting visitors for over 15 years with varying themes. Marvel at artistically designed pumpkin sculptures and enjoy the atmosphere created by over 450,000 pumpkins. The exhibition presents over 600 varieties: aromatic edible pumpkins, colorful ornamental pumpkins, glowing carved pumpkins and bottle gourds. See for yourself just how delicious pumpkin can be! Try pumpkin soup, pan-fried pumpkin or pasta pockets, hash browns, tartes flambées, burgers, spaghetti or strudel made from pumpkin, freshly roasted pumpkin seeds and pumpkin pie. And you can wash it all down with some pumpkin secco or spritzer.

Have a jolly good time in Merry Olde England when you take the London Express with Kaiserslautern Outdoor Recreation! Immerse yourself in the world of the royals at the Tower of London, Buckingham Palace, and Windsor Castle. Visit the British Museum, the National Gallery, Victoria and Albert’s, or Madame Tussauds. Snap that perfect panorama picture of Big Ben from the top of the London Eye. Visit the original Hard Rock Café and get a picture crossing Abbey Road, or get in some shopping on Oxford Street or Harrods. With a free e-travelguide downloaded from Army Libraries, you won’t have to worry about not finding something to do. You will even stay in London late enough to spend an evening at the theater, or enjoy dinner in a high class restaurant or specialized gastro-pub.

German Fishing Class

Graduate and receive a permit to receive your German Fishing License! Students must attend both sessions in one full weekend to graduate.

Swiss Chocolate and Cheese Tasting

Switzerland is well known for both chocolate and cheese. Enjoy a delicious day in which we will sample both! In the village of Broc, you will enjoy a hands-on tour of the Nestle/Cailler chocolate factory. The next stop is the La Maison du Gruyère cheese factory in Gruyères! After touring the cheese factory you can sample the local cheese at 3, 6 and 9 months of aging or buy a Fondue meal in the restaurant. After visiting both factories you will have 3 hours of free time to visit the beautiful village of Gruyères, the medieval Gruyeres Castle, the Tibetan Museum, or the home of “the Facehugger, the Chestburster and the Warrior”, the horrifying H.R. Giger (designer of the Alien) Museum.

“Fly” through the forest on 18 steel cables from tree to tree! See the treetops from a perspective you will never forget. Some platforms include “jumps” into space before the line supports your weight. Must weigh between 35-120kg. If you are afraid of heights, ziplining is not for you. Zipline Elmstein is highly regarded in our area and is insured.

German Countryside Canoe

Burg Eltz Castle Hike

Hike multiple scenic miles through the Eltz Forest and take in views of both the Elzbach River and Burg Eltz! Burg Eltz is a medieval castle nestled in the hills above the Mosel River that is still owned by a branch of the same family that lived there in the 12th century. An English speaking tour of the magnificent 850 year old castle is included. Participants can bring a sack lunch or eat at the restaurant on site
