***image1***The Unnerhaus Culture Club sponsors its 11th Jazz Music Festival today to Sunday at Nanstein Castle in Landstuhl.
The event features traditional Dixieland to big band jazz and blues. The following is the program for the three festival days:
Today: The festival opens at 8 p.m. Performers are the Blues Organization, presenting modern urban blues and The Fantastic Boogaloo Kings with West Coast Swing and soul. An after-show party with Molli & Smitty performing blues and soul music starts at midnight in the tower.
Saturday: The festival continues at 4 p.m. with the New Orleans Preachers from France, presenting their legendary marching show. At 5 p.m., the Trevor Richards New Orleans Trio featuring Simon Holliday (piano/vocal) and John Defferary (saxophone) will perform. Then, Roger and the Evolution featuring Denise Gordon, a world famous jazz vocalist, will take over. Finally, the brass sport group Südwest will close out with modern brass music. The after-show party begins at 11 p.m. with the New Orleans Preachers.
Sunday: The festival starts at 11 a.m. with a jazz band parade. Again, the New Orleans Preachers will perform, followed by the Soren Leyers Swingtett with gypsy jazz, Hungarian folk music and jazz standards, the Phoenix Jazzband performing Dixieland jazz, and Papa’s Finest Boogie Band with boogie woogie and rock ’n’ roll sound. The festival ends at 7 p.m.
Tickets will be available at the entrance to Nanstein Castle. Tickets are cheaper if purchased in advance. They are available in Landstuhl at the healthy food store Hackler (06371-71549), the bookstore Böhm (06371-2742) or by visiting www.unnerhaus-kulturclub.de. Advance ticket prices for single days range from €18 (today) to €22 (Saturday) and €9 on Sunday. An advance ticket for all three days is €42. Children under 12 are admitted free. Parking is available in easy walking distance to the castle.
