The 415th Base Support Battalion Sports and Fitness branch conducts a Commander’s Cup program throughout the year.
The program is designed to award KMC Army units that participate in the 415th BSB Sports and Fitness programs throughout the sports calendar year. This includes individual, unit and community level events. The program promotes teamwork and esprit de corps within the units and encourages maximum athletic participation.
“Points are awarded to units and individuals by unit participation in the various 415th BSB leagues,” said Lenny Ingram, unit level programmer, 415th BSB Sports and Fitness. “A unit can earn up to 200 points a season by attending league meetings and winning championships. A team can earn 50 points for just playing in the season.”
The program starts with the flag football season in August and ends with the Softball season on the following July. The unit with the most points at the end will get to keep the Commander’s Cup for a year.
At this time, the 226th Medical Logistics, Miesau Army Depot, is leading with 165 points. Second place belongs to D-Landstuhl Regional Medical Center (comprised of reserve units) with 150 points and Landstuhl Regional Medical Center is in third place with 145 points.
