Downtown Kaiserslautern will turn into one large and colorful festival area with music, street acts, art,  food and beverages.  Enjoy a spring shopping spree with tunes and acts along the way!

KODOMO NO HI (DAY OF KIDS)

MAY 5, JAPANESE GARDEN, KAISERSLAUTERN

Koi fish will be floating around the Japanese garden and there will be special activities for kids, including a tree ghost scavenger hunt.  There will also be a lecture (in German) about Bonsai art for kids from 3.30 to 4.30 p.m.  The opening hours of the garden will be extended to 7 p.m. during the summer.

HAFENGEBURTSTAG (PORT ANNIVERSARY)

KULTURSOMMER RHEINLAND-PFALZ (CULTURAL SUMMER)

MAY 12-13, CITY CENTER, TRIER

Every year the Cultural Department of the State of Rheinland-Pfalz presents a Cultural Summer with a wide range of events.  The opening will take place on May 12 in Trier.  The city center will turn into on giant open-air stage.  There will be theater, art, street acts and music, workshops and games in front of the Basilica.  Under the motto “Compass Europe – Let’s go West” there will be bands and theater groups from Luxembourg, France, Belgium, The Netherlands and Scotland.  A Fringe Theater Festival will take place at Kornmarkt with a circus, physical theater and walking acts.  Almost all events are free of cost and outside.  Don’t miss out on this exciting weekend!

VOLKSPARK-KONZERTE

BEGINNING MAY 14, 11 A.M., VOLKSPARK, KAISERSLAUTERN

May 14 marks the beginning of the series of concerts in the Volkspark that will take place every second Sunday, weather permitting.  Bring your picnic blanket and a cool drink and enjoy alternating tunes ranging from classic, German folk music, jazz, pop and rock.

BAUMCON – Baumholder Comic Convention

The 16th Sustainment Brigade Baumholder is sponsoring the Baumholder Comicon event at the Hall of Champions on Smith Barracks. The admission is free, and there will be a costume, art, and trivia contest, cosplay, gaming, comics, crafts, and much more!
