Concerns expected on A62 tunnel
The A62 tunnel (Hörnchenbergtunnel) direction Kaiserslautern/Trier was completely closed Aug. 29 for construction. Traffic is being detoured onto the opposite lane. The Landstuhl/Atzel exit coming from Pirmasens is also closed.
You may still get on the A62 via Landstuhl/Atzel. The speed limit has been reduced to 60 kph throughout the entire construction zone. Motorists are asked to exercise particular caution due to oncoming traffic in the tunnel. The lane and exit closure will be effective until December.

The U.S. Air Force Honor Guard has maintained a strong tradition for 60 years, representing all Air Force servicemembers with honor and valor. The 86th Airlift Wing Base Honor Guard program represents the KMC with honors at ceremonies, funerals and other public relations functions. The base honor guard is in need of your support. If you are an energetic Air Force professional who wants to represent your community with honor, valor and dignity, contact your first sergeant.
From 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sept. 11, there will be an honor guard recruitment and appreciation event in front of Bldg. 2162, near the Southside Shoppette. This event will give the entire community a chance to show their appreciation to those who serve in the prestigious position of honor guard along with an opportunity for those wanting to step up and serve the KMC as a part of this proud heritage – as a member of the base honor guard.
