The 2009 tax season is almost upon us and the Ramstein Tax Center needs your help.
The Ramstein Tax Center needs volunteers to assist the community in filing taxes for 2009. The tax program cannot function without the outstanding assistance of volunteers.
Ramstein’s tax assistance program will focus on helping active-duty members, Department of Defense civilians and dependents learn to prepare and file their own tax returns through the tax center at the Ramstein Legal Office. There are no special requirements, including previous tax experience, to be a volunteer at the Ramstein Tax Center; only a true desire to help others is necessary. Volunteers may be officers, enlisted members, civilian employees, dependents or retirees.
Training will be provided through IRS online training in conjunction with a specialized course put on by the Ramstein Legal Office from Jan. 11 to 15 at the Ramstein Community Center.
The course will focus on the basics of preparing a return for those who have little to no tax experience and will also focus on the specific tax issues that servicemembers face living overseas and being associated with the military.
If interested in volunteering at the Ramstein Tax Center or for questions about volunteering, send contact information (duty phone and duty location, if applicable, e-mail address and any other contact information) to Airman 1st Class Helga Evora at helga.evora@ramstein.af.mil.
