KMCC traffic, parking reminder

Since the opening of the Kaiserslautern Military Community Center on Ramstein in July, traffic has increased exponentially as well as the need for parking. The average weekday traffic has gone up 34 percent since June (up to 28,904 vehicles daily).

This has resulted in an increase in non-moving citations by 130 percent. The most common infraction is double parking (parking on or over the lines of a designated parking space). The KMCC has 2,200 parking spaces, including 182 designated for employees, and 350 in the parking garage by the hotel, however the parking is designed for smaller European vehicles making parking more challenging for trucks and SUVs.

Parking violators create safety hazards, potentially block traffic and further reduce available parking. Security forces has been directed to practice zero tolerance for parking violations in and around the KMCC. KMCC visitors are encouraged to ensure they are legally parked and consider parking in the large parking garage near the AMC terminal.
