AF finance streamlines operations

Air Force financial management is currently consolidating processing operations provided by 93 separate base finance offices worldwide into one central location at the new Air Force Financial Services Center at Ellsworth Air Force Base, South Dakota.

This location gives Airmen more flexibility in obtaining finance service through 24/7 self-service Web site options and a contact center.

Ramstein finance customers will see this change start to take place Jan. 28. However, the transition is designed to be seamless. And, how customer service is provided will not change at this time.

The initial operational capability of the contact center will be reached in October.
Base finance office walk-in service will remain for some services, but customers will be encouraged to use the new service options.

“Financial management’s transformation objective is to provide the Air Force ‘a longer tooth and a shorter tail’ by returning resources from support operations to direct war-fighting capabilities,” said John Vonglis, principal deputy assistant secretary of the Air Force for financial management and comptroller.

These changes will save the Air Force $210 million.

Visit the AFFSC Web site on the AF Portal by highlighting “Life & Career” tab, then clicking on “Money – Finance Central,” then select “Air Force Financial Services Center” link.
